When nemaworkshop and The W Hotel joined forces to renovate The W French Quarter in New Orleans, they had a common goal in mind: connect the hotel to the magic and mystery of the city. Located in the heart of the ‘Big Easy’, off of cobblestone streets and behind historic buildings, a mysterious universe lingers.
Drawing on the culture of New Orleans, Imagine Tile designed a custom copper tile that relates to the subtexts of Dark Arts, Tarot and Jazz, the guestrooms at The W Hotel capture a particular atmosphere of mystery and intrigue. The fiery copper bathroom relates to not only the gas-lit fountain in the W courtyard, but more largely the play between fire and water occurring throughout the French Quarter. Gas lanterns line the cobblestone alleys, and inside the intimate courtyard gardens water splashes and fire flickers in the fountain.
